The Compinsky Trio : Manuel Compinsky : oral history transcript / interview conducted by Thomas Bertonneau, under the auspices of the Oral History Program, University of California, Los Angeles, 1985.

Compinsky chronicles his musical training at Trinity College of Music, London in the 1920s; the founding of Pacific Institute of Music and Fine Arts, 1934; teaching and performing in Los Angeles area; the NBC Symphony, 1937-1940 under Toscanini; effects of involvement in film music and of orchestral work on solo performance; and the founding of Los Angeles Pops Orchestra. The interview concludes with his entry into the military in 1940.
